Brunch at Peony’s identity makes more sense when you know the path of its chef-owner. Hak Sung Kim was born in South Korea, raised in Argentina and developed experience as a chef, culinary instructor and entrepreneur before opening in Georgia.
A carefully planned beginning
Kim and his partner and childhood friend, Kim Joon Dong, planned the concept for years. Brunch at Peony opened in August 2022.
Details make the room
The boutique atmosphere was intentional. Kim has described sketching the space for both warmth and efficiency, while testing many dishes before opening. That same detail extends to the coffee program.
Built by a team
Kim consistently credits his family, business partner, staff and customers. His wife, Hyun Sook Jin, is a professional barista in the business and encouraged his formal culinary career.
